The Brooklyn Bridge repair work is ongoing, requiring that our Park revert to public use in Stages.
COMPLETED PARK PLAN
On completion of the Park, we will have 6 main outdoor sections stretching from Park Row to South Street, providing a diversity of outdoor experiences responding to the specific character of each section.
We envision The Vaults would be converted to public use, ideally a New York Public Library combined with a Brooklyn Bridge Museum housing a collection of documents and artifac
There are two minor areas which we are advocating to open for public access NOW. Comprised of 50% of the Small Banks and the Elevated Basketball Courts - this is space that has not been actively utilized for the current repair work on the Bridge. The Basketball Courts in particular are on an elevated level, and separated by an elevated walkway, from the main construction area.
Upon return of the two blocks between Park Row and Pearl Street (estimated for 2023), the iconic Brooklyn Banks would reopen, and we would be able to claim the Vaults and the adjacent lands for public park space.
The final section of the Park would include the largest open space, connecting the park to the East River.
