The Brooklyn Banks is an iconic skate spot, a cultural touchstone for the New York skate and action sports communities since 1972. What made it a not-so-great traditional park, made it a perfect skate park.
The Banks closed in 2010 for work on the Brooklyn Bridge. It remains closed to this day, 11 years later. Without active intervention and advocacy, it could remain closed for another decade or more.
We are committed to bringing back the Banks, and protecting it for future generations.
The Banks was a place that fostered connections that cut across race, class, age and ability. it was a place where you could find your people, and yourself. It was magical. We need that kind of magic in New York, now more than ever.
Please join us in making some new magic. This is a grass roots community effort to create a public park on public land that has been fenced off for far too long - and we need your help.
